Blogging is an essential activity to share ideas, collaborate and establish a professional online presence. In this workshop, strategies for using blogs to support Digital Humanities (DH) initiatives will be explored. WordPress, a popular blogging platform, provides the tools and framework for creating an online DH project including the use of various themes and plugins.
Themes can transform your blog from a simple blog format into a newsletter or magazine, rich-media site or project showcase. More advanced themes let you make your blog into almost anything you can imagine. Plugins allow you to include all your social media presences, add event listings, create a community, conduct surveys or quizzes, build more complex taxonomies, or present data. Examples of projects include self-publishing, student generated work and multimedia presentations.
