In his recent blog post, How Managers Become Leaders: Resilience, George S. Everly, Jr. writes: “… managers who failed at leadership were those who lacked the ability to make difficult decisions.” He believes the reason for this is that they lack resilience: “In order to make a difficult decision, it is necessary to believe in one’s ability to rebound from failure should it occur. Resilient people are those who in the wake of adversity and failure rise like the Phoenix to greater strength than before.” 

 Of resilience Nelson Mandela wrote: “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” Albert Camus told us: “Blessed are the hearts that can bend, for they can never be broken.” George S. Patton said: “Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom.”

May your life be one of a Phoenix, one always rising from the ashes of adversity and with powerful wings daring to fly to heights undreamed.
