Three Minute Leadership: Learnings from a Pencil Maker

To: The Great Leaders Who Have a Passion for Continuous Learning

Some of life’s profound learnings are found in fables and parables which tell a story and are easy to remember. A friend recently shared one about the Parable of the Pencil. It reminds great leaders of their beautiful individuality and gifts, the need for continued learnings from which they will grow on their journey and the treasure of the richness inside of them that makes them who they are.

The pencil maker shares this wisdom with the pencil before putting it in its box:

  1. Everything you do will always leave a mark
  1. You can always correct the mistakes you create.
  1. What is important is what is inside of you.
  1. In life, you will undergo painful sharpenings, which will only make you better.
  1. To be the best pencil, you must allow yourself to be held and guided by the hand that holds you.

Great leaders are the writers, artists, story tellers, authors and artists of the majestic mosaics of their life’s journey. They are the beautiful instruments of change in all they do. May you make your marks indelible in the joy, beauty and richness you produce, and may your life be held and guided by the hand that holds you. Continue to be more than you ever dreamed you could be… and more… so much more.

Have a beautiful day and a magnificent week!!!
