Last week, the Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University held its 5th annual Pirates Pitch, an entrepreneurship competition designed to help startups develop their ideas and compete for over $10,000 in prizes!  To begin, Luciana Contuzzi, a Seton Hall graduate and a previous winner of Pirates Pitch attended as a guest speaker, giving advice to future entrepreneurs and talking about what she has done with her company, Zest, since her graduation.

Ryan Skolnick, a freshman business major from Morristown, NJ took first place!  His company, Aveho Learning, is a language learning video game that will soon be on the market for students in grades K-12.  The purpose of the video game is for students who are trying to learn new languages to be immersed in both the language and culture of the country simultaneously. Ryan won the grand prize of $6,000 plus legal and marketing services, which he is planning on using to create a 10-minute demo version of the game in order to present it to different schools and gain the funds to create the entire game. Ryan was ecstatic to have the opportunity to pursue his ideas and his career, particularly as a freshman, and is looking forward to what the future holds for his company!
