Three Minute Leadership: Think Like an Angel or a Devil, a King or a Slave – The Power of Choice

To: The Great Leaders Who Have a Passion for Continuous Learning

Either what happens changes our mood… or our mood changes the way we narrate what happens.” writes Seth Godin in his blog, Your Mood vs. Your Reality. Do great leaders depend on external stimuli for their happiness, or do they choose to write their own internal script from which happiness will follow?

“Our narrative, the laundry list we tick off, the things we highlight for ourselves and others… our narrative is completely up to us. The simple shortcut: the way we respond to the things that we can’t change can instantly transform our lives. “That’s interesting,” is a thousand times more productive than, “that’s terrible.” Even more powerful is our ability to stop experiencing failure before it even happens, because, of course, it usually doesn’t. Happiness, for most of us, is a choice. Reality is not. It seems, though, that choosing to be happy ends up changing the reality that we keep track of.”

William Jennings Bryan, American statesman, wrote: “Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.” Great leaders choose to create their own realities, starting from the inside. They embrace and hold sacred the words of Tony Robbins, life coach and author: “Using the power of decision gives you the capacity to get past any excuse to change any and every part of your life in an instant.” On the power of choice Frederick Bailes’ tells great leaders: “Man’s power of choice enable him to think like an angel or a devil, a king or a slave.  Whatever he chooses, mind will create and manifest.”  Choose wisely; choose well. The choices that great leaders make, are the choices that make great leaders. Remember always the wise counsel of Dr. Seuss“You have BRAINS in your HEAD. You have FEET in your SHOES. You can STEER yourself any DIRECTION you CHOOSE.”

Have a beautiful day and a magnificent week?!
