Three Minute Leadership: A Lesson on “How Not to Hit the Wall”

To:  The Great Leaders Who Have a Passion for Continuous Learning

A friend recently shared a story about his friend’s race-car driving experience, and the lesson his friend learned.

A friend of mine took a course teaching race-car driving on a circuit track. The main lesson he said he learned was that when approaching a severe turn in the track with a brick wall barrier defining it and the potential of missing the turn and crashing into the brick wall, do NOT focus your attention on the brick wall.

Focus all your attention on the successful execution of the turn. LOOK where you want the car to GO, and NOT at the brick wall which would mean failure! Keep your focus on the GOAL, not on the possibility of failure.

The successful achievement of goals rests in focusing on what is to be accomplished and how it will be accomplished, and not on the obstacles and inevitable risks life offers along the way. Brian Tracy, speaker and motivational coach, wrote: “The key to success is to focus our conscious mind on things we desire not things we fear.” And Henry Ford said: “Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.”  Great leaders focus their energies on moving forward, enjoying all the twists and turns life offers, while never taking their eyes of their goal – to be more than they ever dreamed they could be … and more … so much more. Enjoy your magnificent and beautiful journey every moment we have of this incredible life.  And help others find that joy also. Life is so very good.

Have a beautiful day and a magnificent week!!!

Mike
