National Society for Collegiate Scholars Inducts Michael Reuter

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) at Seton Hall University is an organization that honors the students and faculty members that exemplify their three pillars: scholarship, leadership, and service. The organization’s claims to “[exist] to recognize and elevate high-achievers” by awarding them grants for ranking top 20% in their classes and maintained at least a 3.4 GPA. The NSCS is known to grant scholarships, leadership training, act as a pipeline for internships, and much more! It has acted as a major resource for around 840 members at Seton Hall alone, and over 1 million members nationwide.

On October 4th in the Jubilee Auditorium, the pool of NSCS members made more room for the new wave of inductees that would share in the benefits of such an advantageous society. Approximately 150 new members were welcomed that night, including Leadership Development Honors Program’s Director, Michael Reuter, who also served as the keynote speaker for the evening.

Michael Reuter was honored as an at the National Society for Collegiate Scholars’ (NSCS) New Member Induction Ceremony as an NSCS Distinguished Member. Anybody who speaks to him would attest to the fact that he is the quintessential member of the NSCS, embodying and living out each pillar the society stands for every day of his life in everything thing that he does. One of Reuter’s mottos includes that he lives to serve others. He is naturally a huge proponent of leadership and spoke about that in his speech. Here is an excerpt from the speech at the event:

“Each year our chapter recognizes individuals from Seton Hall University and within our community who exemplify the three pillars of NSCS: Scholarship, Leadership, and Service.  Our Distinguished Members are the individuals that we admire as we strive to create our own positive change as leaders of NSCS. Distinguished Members often contribute significantly to our chapter’s success, so we honor them  here tonight.”

His description of an NSCS Distinguished Member resonated throughout the crowd. His whole speech was appreciated and applauded by all.

The words of and rewards given to such leaders are mere reflections of the real work they actually do to touch the lives of all those they lead. The NSCS is an organization that not only values the effort of these people, but also gives the incentive to those potential and aspiring leaders of the University to follow in the footsteps of the laudable predecessors that emanate what it means to do so much good in the world. The three pillars are those that will uphold an individual to the highest standards throughout his or her life. Organizations like the NSCS presents an invaluable message to students and faculty alike.

Congratulations, Mike, on receiving such a high honor! You are one of the most deserving recipients we know!
