Three Minute Leadership: The Joy of You

To: The Great Leaders Who Have a Passion for Continuous Learning

Anna Quinlan, American author and journalist, wrote: “I read and walked for miles at night along the beach, writing bad blank verse and searching endlessly for someone wonderful who would step out of the darkness and change my life. It never crossed my mind that that person could be me.” What a magnificent discovery to find within ourselves all that for which we have been searching! It is the joy of our journey, the excitement of our life’s purpose to continuously explore and ultimately find the greatness that we bring to the world.

Rainer Maria Rilke, Bohemian-Austrian poet and novelist, in his book: Letters to a Young Poet, gives counsel to great leaders’ on their journey of discovery:

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves like locked rooms and like books that are written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will find them gradually, without noticing it, and live along some distant day into the answer.”

Each day, each hour and minute open yourself to the wonders of what can be – in your profession, in those whom you serve and in you. Be fully immersed in the moment to see its infinite possibilities. Start each day with excitement. Look into the mirror each morning and say to that extraordinary person looking back at you: “I am magnificent! This day will be the greatest day in my life… because I choose it to be.” Remember the words of Jo Coudert, author: “To the question of your life, you are the only answer. To the problems of your life, you are the only solution.” Live with passion, and be more than you ever dreamed you could be. And have fun doing it!

Have a beautiful day and a fantastic week!!!
