\nSandra Uwiringiyimana, Author of “How Dare the Sun Rise”
\nUnited Nations Bookshop<\/p>\n

Sandra Uwiringiyimana is an author and the co-founder of Jimbere Fund, an organization that aims to revitalize distressed communities and foster peace in Congo by empowering women economically.<\/p>\n

How Dare the Sun Rise: Memoirs of a War Child (HarperCollins), is her remarkable and inspiring true story of how she survived a massacre in the Democratic Republic of Congo, immigrated to America, and overcame her trauma through art and activism. Sandra tells the story of her survival, of finding her place in a new country, of her hope for the future, and how she found a way to give voice to her people.<\/p>\n

21 March: International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination<\/strong>
\n#FightRacism, every time and everywhere it happens. As populism and nationalist movements are on the rise, all of us must stand up to promote respect, compassion and equality for all. Join our campaign on March 21, the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.<\/p>\n

22 March 2019: UN Water Day<\/strong>
\nThe theme for World Water Day 2019 is \u2018Leaving no one behind\u2019. This is an adaptation of the central promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: as sustainable development progresses, everyone must benefit.<\/p>\n

Whoever you are, wherever you are, water is your human right. Access to water underpins public health and is therefore critical to sustainable development and a stable and prosperous world. We cannot move forward as a global society while so many people are living without safe water.<\/p>\n
