This edition focuses on events held on the Occasion of the UN General Assembly, which begins September 18. The UN General Debates begin September 25. Below you will find a selection of some of the events held on the occasion of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), including high-level side events and events held by NGOs and national delegations. September 24 – 30 is Climate Week NYC<\/a>: events held in association with Climate Week NYC are found underneath the UNGA-related events. Be sure to check events for both this week and next week, as spots fill up soon and some events for next week require you to RSVP in the next few days.<\/p>\n

Education in Emergencies: Exploring Innovation, Opportunities, and Challenges<\/b><\/strong>

\nThere has been a global increase in emergencies resulting from war, conflict, and natural disasters that have had a dramatic effect on children\u2019s social development. Crises often disrupt schooling and threaten a child\u2019s future as well as a country\u2019s stability. About a quarter of students who do not attend school live in crises-affected countries, where humanitarian aid is often insufficient to provide long-term educational opportunities.<\/p>\n

This panel discussion will bring together a diverse group of experts in education, including direct responders who work to ensure children receive quality education in emergency situations. They will share innovative approaches to providing education, opportunities for further investment, and strategies for how stakeholders can support education in existing and future crises.
