The Fellowship Programme for People of African Descent<\/strong> provides the participants with an intensive learning opportunity to deepen their understanding of the United Nations human rights system, instruments and mechanisms, with a focus on issues of particular relevance to people of African descent.
\nThe Fellowship Programme will allow the participants to better contribute to the protection and promotion of civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights of people of African descent in their respective countries.

The United Nations General Assembly will hold a high-level meeting on the fight to end tuberculosis on 26 September 2018 in New York with the overall theme \u201cUnited to end tuberculosis: an urgent global response to a global epidemic\u201d. An interactive hearing will be convened by the President of the General Assembly on 4 June 2018, in New York, as part of the preparatory process for the high-level meeting.
\nAccreditation is now open until\u00a027 April 2018\u00a0for relevant non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions and the private sector with expertise in tuberculosis to attend the high-level meeting and participate in the interactive civil society hearing.
\nNon-governmental organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC do not need to apply at this stage.
\nPlease note that once the accreditation process is finalized, each participant will need to register separately to attend the interactive civil society hearing and the high-level meeting.\u00a0 Separate registration forms for both events will be opened in due course.

The United Nations General Assembly will hold its third high-level meeting on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases on 27 September 2018 in New York with the overall theme \u201cScaling up multi-stakeholder and multisectoral responses for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development\u201d.
\nAn interactive hearing will be convened by the President of the General Assembly on 5 July 2018, in New York, as part of the preparatory process for the high-level meeting.

WHO calls on health facilities to prevent health care-associated sepsis through hand hygiene and infection prevention and control (IPC) action. Sepsis is estimated to affect more than 30 million patients every year worldwide. At the Seventieth World Health Assembly in May 2017, Member States adopted a resolution on improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of sepsis.<\/p>\n

Health care-associated infections, infections acquired during health care delivery, are common and are a risk factor for developing sepsis but we can prevent this.
