{"id":1163,"date":"2014-11-28T07:56:22","date_gmt":"2014-11-28T12:56:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/unstudies\/?p=1163"},"modified":"2017-01-13T12:50:10","modified_gmt":"2017-01-13T17:50:10","slug":"a-call-for-blogposts-2015-what-to-watch-for","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/unstudies\/2014\/11\/28\/a-call-for-blogposts-2015-what-to-watch-for\/","title":{"rendered":"A Call for Blogposts: &#8220;2015: What to Watch For&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The coming year is going to be a crucial one in global governance:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The UN is facing the challenges of its 70th anniversary and the upcoming Secretary General election.<\/li>\n<li>Countries are negotiating the Sustainable Development Goals.<\/li>\n<li>The IMF faces the continual challenge of quota and governance reform.<\/li>\n<li>The WTO faces the ongoing challenge of building consensus among a divided membership.<\/li>\n<li>While we question the relevance of the G20, China and the BRICS countries are building IOs to challenge the existing economic order.<\/li>\n<li>Many treaties remain unratified by the US Senate, which will not change this year.<\/li>\n<li>The ICC may well get involved in North Korea while it faces challenges from African states.<\/li>\n<li>The world struggles to negotiate a successor agreement to the Kyoto Protocol.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The above themes are only a partial list.
