UNAOC launches call for Young Peacebuilders in MENA
The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) is pleased to launch the call for applications for the Young Peacebuilders in Middle East and North Africa programme. The call is open to participants between 18 to 25 years old, from the region, with a strong interest in growing their ability to act as agents of peace in their community, region and beyond.
The deadline to apply is 31 August 2017.

Equator Prize 2017, recognizing local and indigenous communities from Africa, Asia, and
Latin America. The winning organizations, which showcase innovative solutions for
tackling poverty, environment, and climate challenges, will be honored at a celebratory
gala in New York on September 17, 2017.

DPI-associated NGO Spotlights
Association for Trauma Outreach and Prevention
The Association for Trauma Outreach and Prevention (ATOP) was associated with the
United Nations Department of Public Information on 8 December 2009.
ATOP was created to assist disaster victims with mental health recovery and to train
others in administering to traumatized populations. ATOP seeks to nurture community
resilience and resolve victims’ psychological scars using education and discussion, and
ultimately through forgiveness and acceptance. ATOP follows global disasters and
maintains programs with the victims, including PTSD programs in Armenia, Syria, and the
United States. ATOP promotes global missions based in its chapters in Pakistan, Canada,
and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
