Dear Black Man
\nTruth is, my father is a black man
\nAnd his father was a black man
\nAnd his father was black man
\nAnd his father was black man
\nThat was torn from a black man the day that the
\ncolonizers came and made him a slave
\nA moment that his life would forever be changed
\nYet more than 400 years later we still feel his pain
\nand must chant #sayhisname in protests so that
\nthe unjust death of a black man does not go in
\nvain<\/p>\n
Dear Black Man
\nTears form in my eyes as I write that I am sorry
\nfor what this world has done to you
\nI am sorry you have been exploited for your
\nservitude
\nI am sorry that every day you have had to put up a
\nfight
\nto show that you matter yesterday, today, and
\ntonight
\nI am sorry that you have been lynched and killed,
\ndying a sad death while your killers feel no guilt
\nI am sorry that we were not there to protect you
\nbecause even if we were present the system had
\nalready failed to<\/p>\n
Dear Black Man
\nI am not sorry that your skin radiates a melanin
\nglow that only you can have
\nI am not sorry that the world envies your strength,
\npower and courage that has kept your race from
\nextinction throughout the past
\nI am not sorry that in your veins flow the blood of
\nyour ancestors who escaped bondage without
\nlooking back
\nHoping that you would be born into freedom
\nwith your basic human rights being something you
\nwould never lack
\nI am not sorry for the uprising to come as many
\nblack men have died at the unjust use of a badge
\nand a gun<\/p>\n
Dear Black Man
\nWe ask God for guidance as we fight for our
\nrights in these terrible dark times
\nbecause black man you are loved now and forever
\nand even though they try, do not let them take
\nyour light
\nBecause despite it all, We love you black man
\nand I swear to do my best to show that it is with
\nyou that I stand
\nAnd to my beautiful black women you matter too,
\nbut right now in this very moment my black men,
\nthis message is for you.<\/p>\n
