The future of Jordanian citizens will soon be influenced by forces outside of their control. As unemployment, rent, and consumer expenses continue to rise, so will the rate of addiction.<\/p>\n
Regional and tribal conflicts will continue to flood the Middle East with amphetamines and other narcotics, as both combatants and suppliers will find opportunities for sale amidst the ensuing chaos, reports Lorazepam Abuse Help<\/a>.<\/p>\n Another much less tangible obstacle for addicts seeking recovery is the cultural stigma surrounding drug use. The Middle Eastern culture is collectivist by nature, where the behavior of one person reflects on the family he or she represents. It is common for families to become highly involved in the activities of their younger members, and it is more common for private information to remain behind closed doors.<\/p>\n The attitude that some nations in the Middle East exhibit towards drugs can be seen in the same light. Families who harbor drug addicts are less likely to talk about it to officials and centers that may offer rehabilitation.<\/p>\n Religion also plays an integral part in Middle Eastern dynamics, and Jordan is no exception. Drug addicts are often viewed as lost souls with no guidance. Drugs are seen as a vice, and their users are viewed as having no self-control or discipline in their lives. Rather than seek recovery, addicts carry out their drug use surreptitiously to avoid embarrassment, harassment from authorities, and familial judgment.<\/p>\n The government of Jordan, as a result, needs to establish a more progressive policy through rehabilitation rather than punishment. Most importantly, it needs to reach those who are addicted in a way that is separate from culture and stigma and further acknowledge the fact that they have a drug problem, a process they have already begun.
