Hello Kelly! I am super intrigued with the topic of your poster. As someone who has invested time learning about creating safe and warm spaces for children and adults in trauma-informed care therapy, your poster feeds why it is important to do just that. Creating fun spaces with colors, fidgets and anything that is sensory friendly is vital for children with ASD. Your poster made me think of Montessori spaces for children with ASD, I have read that it is extremely beneficial allowing space for growth and growth educationally. I appreciate your poster for the amount of statistics you put, I personally didn’t know that boys are 4 times more likely to be diagnosed with ASD over girls. Overall, amazing job!
Hi Kelly! I loved your presentation/poster and am super interested in this topic and all of the statistics you provided. I think that you are completely right, there are so many public spaces that are not suitable to children and adults with ASD. I think that this is also so important to removing stigmas and misconceptions about individuals with disorders such as ASD, but many of them could be resolved by simply taking into account these individuals when creating spaces and communities. I love how you included in your poster examples of what sensory-friendly environments look like, because it really is that easy to create spaces that all individuals can feel comfortable and safe in. Great work!
