Mentor

Mentors

Mentors are the engine of the Stillman Mentorship Program! Mentors are expected to come in with a helping hand and a positive attitude. Coming into Seton Hall University as a student for the very first time can be scary and sometimes lonely. We all remember our first time at SHU right? Imagine coming into SHU and already having a friend, a go to, someone to answer all your questions. Mentors are here for exactly that!

Mentors are expected to guide and help mentees. By committing to the role of a mentor, you are deciding to help someone and steer them through their first year of college. The role of a mentor is something special because it gives you the power to make a difference in a difficult situation. Mentors are supposed to be a friend but also help with professional development and any questions regarding the University.

Mentors are of course expected to treat mentees with respect and kindness. The most important part about being a mentor is communicating with the mentee and making sure to stay connected with them. The goal is to create a comfortable and trusting relationship with the mentee but this begins with the mentor. Being a mentor requires leadership and commitment!

Being a mentor is a great opportunity to help someone enter SHU in the smoothest and most comfortable way possible!
