{"id":32,"date":"2012-03-29T12:45:39","date_gmt":"2012-03-29T17:45:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/sportspoll\/?p=32"},"modified":"2012-12-11T11:58:24","modified_gmt":"2012-12-11T16:58:24","slug":"public-comes-down-hard-on-saints-too","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/sportspoll\/2012\/03\/29\/public-comes-down-hard-on-saints-too\/","title":{"rendered":"Public Comes Down Hard on Saints Too"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>ONE IN FOUR THINK PUNISHMENT NOT SEVERE ENOUGH \u2013<br \/>\n51% THINK NFL RESPONSE WILL REDUCE INJURIES<\/h2>\n<p>More than 1 in 4 Americans who follow sports would have gone farther than the NFL did in punishing the New Orleans Saints for the use of \u201cbounties\u201d to reward the infliction of injury on opposing players.<\/p>\n<p>According to a Seton Hall Sports Poll conducted this week, 26% felt the punishment, which included the season-long suspension of the team\u2019s head coach, was not severe enough, with 57% saying the punishment was appropriate. Only 11% felt it was too severe.<\/p>\n<p>51% thought the NFL\u2019s response would have an impact on the number of player injuries during the season.<\/p>\n<p>The poll was conducted among 779 randomly selected people across the country, of whom 618 said they followed sports at least somewhat.
