The Start
I believe that what makes or breaks a blog is its ability to connect with people on a certain level. Whether it sticks to a specific topic or covers various topics over time, a blog is all about creating content through which interests can be shared with others. Although sticking to one topic may be the best strategy for building a community since it’s a given that people who like one piece of content will also like the rest, I believe that if at least one person can relate to one of my posts or find it helpful, my blog would have been successful.
I want my first blogging experience (If you’re wondering, yes… this is my first time writing a blog post) to be entertaining for me, the writer, and also for the reader, who, I hope, will find the content I share so engaging that it will be impossible for them to stop reading.
The Gameplan
My plan to keep this blog’s engagement at its highest and avoid boring its few readers does not only include good writing on my part, but also being dynamic with the content I share. I will incorporate images, video, audio, and other web content that will complement the information conveyed with each text. Also, moving into the Digital Accessibility module of my Webpage Technologies course, I will also seek to use all of the digital tools available to make this an easy-to-follow, interactive, and enjoyable experience for all readers.
I feel very comfortable with others reading my thoughts and suggesting any changes or providing any feedback that they see fit. At the end of the day, this is my first time, I’m still finding my way around. I am also open to comment, learn, and take inspiration from the blogs of other people.
Hi Felipe,
Great job on your post, you make many important points regarding digital accessibility. I think it is easy for us to take for granted that we can easily navigate information on the web. If we stop and think about it, we may be taking advantage of accessibility features without realizing it. Think about watching a youtube video but you cannot play the audio bc you are in a public space so you read the captions (I do this a lot on Instagram) or using subtitles when watching a movie because some of the audio might not be clear. We all benefit from accessibility 🙂
Such an engaging topic and article Felipe, keep going like that, waiting to read your next post !!
Hi Felipe, your openness to listen to your readers is an excellent trait that will make your blog flourish. I also agree that by using media such as images, videos, and audio, your blog will be more comprehensive and inviting. Great first post, I cant wait to read more!
Hey Danielle, thank you for the feedback! I couldn’t figure out how to make the comment section visible with the previous theme, so I changed it. The comment section should now be easier to access.
Hi Felipe – I enjoyed reading your first post and look forward to reading your future thoughts on the topics in this course. Just one note, it took me a few tries to find the comment section for your posts. How someone is able to comment on your blog is a function of the WordPress theme. If it seems that others are having issues you may want to switch your theme.
