A few of those prominent writers and esteemed guests have included Jennifer Egan, Susan Choi, Dinaw Mengestu, Ben Lerner, Christine Schutt, Heidi Julavits, Ben Marcus, Jenny Offill, Gary Shteyngart, Kaitlyn Greenidge, Karen Russell, Alexandra Kleeman, Helen Phillips, Major Jackson, Deborah Eisenberg, Susan Orlean, Jonathan Franzen, Joyce Carol Oates, Salman Rushdie, Russell Banks, C. K. Williams, Nadine Gordimer, Jamaica Kincaid, John Ashbery, Adrienne Rich, and many others. From its genesis in 1982 by Professor John Harrington, a faculty member at Seton Hall\u2019s English department from 1956-1995, the <em>Poetry in the Round Series <\/em>has been, and continues to be, dedicated to bringing established and up and coming new writers to the attention of Seton Hall students and the community. Cara Adams, an assistant Professor of creative writing at the University, has been directing the series since 2017.<\/p>\n<h3>About the Project<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;The History of the Poetry in the Round&#8221; project was inspired by my former work with the series and interest with how the pandemic would be affecting the readings being hosted this semester. The project provides a neat collection of archival materials that portray an informative, comprehensive, and interactive representation of the history of the <em>Poetry in the Round Series\u00a0<\/em>at Seton Hall. Users can navigate the website by selecting a given year, which displays the list of authors the Series hosted in that year. When an author is selected, users are directed to a page that includes photographs, biographical information, the link to the recording of their reading, and a wealth of other interesting information!
