Although described as “Contemporary Tudor” by the architect, this church contains Modern and Postmodern elements. The interesting facade is dominated by a large monstrance, the symbol of the Blessed Sacrament, executed in limestone. The main entrance also includes the coat-of-arms of Archbishop Thomas A. Boland plus the two sides of the Medal of Saint Benedict. An aluminum spire is directly over the main altar. The basic exterior building materials are a light Ohio gray brick, Vermont slate for the roof, and Indiana limestone.<\/p>\n
The altars, predella, sanctuary, and communion rail are executed in a variety of Italian marbles.<\/p>\n
There is an imposing 30-foot wide\u00a0 mosaic of the Last Supper behind the main altar. It follows the theme of the stained glass windows focusing on the Eucharist.<\/p>\n
