Study Playlist

I am not picky when it comes to what I listen to when studying. A lot of times I’ll just listen to the most recent playlist I’ve made, but I know for a lot of people finding music to listen to when studying can be hard. I have friends who can only listen to classical music to study or music that is in a different language so they won’t be tempted to sing along. This playlist is filled with chill songs that help me relax in order to study. I hope you find some songs that you can study to as well!

Why I Picked This Song: I love John Mayer. He is perfect to listen to when studying. All his music is very calming. This is a song from his new album that I really like.

Song: Why’s You Only Call Me When You’re High?

Artist: Arctic Monkeys

Genre: Alternative

Why I Picked This Song: Arctic Monkeys have a really cool sound to them. This song is one of their more popular songs which is why I chose it. I highly recommend their entire A.M. album.

Artist: The 1975

Genre: Alternative

Why I Picked This Song: The 1975 has a really cool sound. This song is one of my favorites. It is a little more slow than some of their other songs. I really like their self-titled album “The 1975” and all the songs on the album are really amazing.

Why I Picked This Song: The Weeknd has a really smooth and relaxing voice, which is the kind of sound I like when I’m studying.

Song: Going ‘Round

Artist: Jordan Davis

Genre: Country

Why I Picked This Song: I really like this guy’s voice. I have been listening to a lot of his songs lately so I just threw this into the playlist.

Song: The A Team

Artist: Ed Sheeran

Genre: Singer/Songwriter

Why I Picked This Song: Ed Sheeran is probably one of the most talented musicians ever. All of his music is beautiful and his voice is so relaxing and perfect. This song reminds me of winter. Also I like to listen to it when I study.

Artist: Beyonce feat. Drake

Genre: R&B/Rap

Why I Picked This Song: I hate Beyonce but I love Drake. Also this song isn’t that bad. It details Beyonce and Jay-Z’s relationship which is really interesting.

Why I Picked This Song: This song is beautiful. James Bay’s voice is beautiful. I love it.

Why I Picked This Song: When I am studying I really chill music and this song is pretty chill. It reminds me of sitting on my bed in a blanket cocoon and reading a book.

Why I Picked This Song: This is my favorite James Arthur song so I wanted to include it on this playlist.

Why I Picked This Song: Acoustic music is some of the best music to study to and his voice sounds really emotional and beautiful.

Why I Picked This Song: I am in love with Mumford & Sons. They are one of my favorite bands ever and they have this really relaxing quality about them. I always listen to them when I am studying so having a few of their songs in this playlist was a must.

Why I Picked This Song: This is my favorite Mumford & Sons song. I listened to it a lot around finals time and I did really well last semester so I think this song is a good luck study charm.

Why I Picked This Song: This song is slow and calming which is how I like my study music.

Genre: Pop-Punk

Why I Picked This Song: None of my playlists are finished without a punk-pop song. It is a hard genre to find study music in, but State Champs’ acoustic album is a really good place to start.

Artist: Taylor Swift

Genre: Pop

Why I Picked This Song: I love Taylor Swift’s Red album and I love love love this song. It is so beautifully written and it is actually a really good song to listen to if you want to study or relax because it isn’t as upbeat as some of her other songs. When she sings “You call me up again just to break me like a promise”, I felt that.

Why I Picked This Song: This song is very chill and reminds me of sitting on a porch on a nice spring day while doing homework.

Artist: Lana Del Rey feat. The Weeknd

Genre: Indie Pop

Why I Picked This Song: Lana Del Rey is so cool. I saw her in concert in January and she just has such a dreamy quality to her voice. It is really relaxing and mixed with The Weeknd this song is just perfect for studying.

Artist: Niall Horan & Maren Morris

Genre: Folk Pop

Why I Picked This Song: Niall’s whole album is amazing and worth a listen, but this is my favorite song off of it. I listen to Niall’s album all the time when I study, so I wanted to include a song from him in this playlist.

Artist: The Neighbourhood

Genre: Rock

Why I Picked This Song: The Neighbourhood has a very calming quality about them. This song is new and really good. I recommend listening to it when you are studying or just want to relax.

Favorite Lyrics: “Maybe I shouldn’t try to be perfect
I confess, I’m obsessed with the surface”
