{"id":5377,"date":"2026-04-14T06:05:57","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T10:05:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/libraries\/?p=5377"},"modified":"2026-04-14T06:05:57","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T10:05:57","slug":"love-data-week-2026-revisiting-this-important-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/libraries\/2026\/04\/love-data-week-2026-revisiting-this-important-event\/","title":{"rendered":"Love Data Week 2026 &#8211; Revisiting This Important Event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Seton Hall University Libraries\u2019\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ff0000\" href=\"https:\/\/library.shu.edu\/data-services\">Research Data Services<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Team hosted its ninth annual\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000\" href=\"https:\/\/library.shu.edu\/c.php?g=1375150&amp;p=11280553\">Love Data Week<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0from February 9 \u2013 13, 2026 with workshops on topics including AI, Ethics and the Law, Powering AI within Excel, and a <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000\" href=\"https:\/\/douglassday.org\/\">Douglass Day<\/a><\/span><\/strong> transcribe-a-thon event. This international event, sponsored by the <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ff0000\" href=\"https:\/\/www.icpsr.umich.edu\/sites\/icpsr\/home\">Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research<\/a><\/strong><\/span> (ICPSR), the premier social science data repository hosted by the University of Michigan, celebrates data analysis and data science in all its forms.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Love Data Week theme was \u201c<em>Where\u2019s the Data?<\/em>\u201d \u2013 a way to get people thinking about data\u2019s journey from collection through storage and preservation. The theme opens up exciting possibilities for interactive programming, whether hosting data-themed games, building data literacy skills, or diving into the ethics of responsible data use. Our goal is to connect everyone \u2013 from data newcomers to veterans \u2013 with the training and resources they need to make progress on issues close to their hearts<\/p>\n<p>Seton Hall University Libraries is a member of ICPSR. ICPSR partners with several federal statistical agencies and foundations to create collections organized around\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ff0000\" href=\"https:\/\/www.icpsr.umich.edu\/web\/about\/cms\/5016\">specific topics<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>ranging from the\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ff0000\" href=\"https:\/\/www.childandfamilydataarchive.org\/cfda\/pages\/cfda\/index.html\">Child and Family Data Archive<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0to the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.icpsr.umich.edu\/web\/pages\/NAHDAP\/index.html\">\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>National Addiction &amp; HIV Data Archive Program<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. Past years\u2019 events have attracted attendees from international institutions, including the University of Cologne, Germany; the Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic; and Krakow University of Economics, Poland. Attendees from U.S. institutions include the University of Michigan, the University of Chicago, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Hackensack Meridian Health Center for Discovery and Innovation and the Health Resources and Services Administration.<\/p>\n<p>According to Samah Alshrief, data specialist, \u201cLove Data Week is one of my favorite events of the academic year because it brings together our community to celebrate the power of data, and what makes it even more exciting is the opportunity to connect with a global community through ICPSR, seeing how universities and institutions worldwide are innovating with data.\u201d Alshrief continues, \u201cThere is something special about dedicating an entire week to data.
