In the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em>, Barrymore Laurence Scherer presents an exhibit, \u201cThe Renaissance of Etching\u201d at the Metropolitan Museum of Art until January 20, 2020.\u00a0 His essay, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/the-renaissance-of-etching-review-outlining-a-revolutionary-technique-11576929601\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cOutlining a Revolutionary Technique,\u201d<\/a> describes the advance: \u201cBut around 1500 printmaking itself was revolutionized when the technique of etching metal- primarily to decorate armor- was adapted to printing images on paper.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metmuseum.org\/exhibitions\/objects?exhibitionId=2bd6bac9-a0ea-4f15-8c36-180ac59e87e3&amp;pkgids=594\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Met\u2019s website of the exhibit<\/a> allows us to explore the many Biblical scenes at leisure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The paintings and sculptures of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance were shared widely when woodcuts or engravings reproduced these forms of art.
