His fresco <em>Madonna del Parto<\/em> (the Virgin shortly before she gave birth) was located in a chapel at Monterchi near Arrezo in Tuscany but in 1992 was moved to the Musco della Madonna del Parto nearby. The scene posits two angels who open curtains to a tent reminiscent of the Tabernacle in ancient Israel, to reveal Mary pointing to her womb. In his <em>WSJ<\/em> article, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/on-the-brink-of-the-saviors-arrival-1539378001?fbclid=IwAR2MFNx4M6IxyqfH6swvls4ynlOmVBYHxxKke3MAGP7pJEAW3IUDlWjXzXY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">On the Brink of the Saviors Arrival<\/a>,&#8221; Willard Spiegelman describes the scene: \u201cThe curtain is going up on a world changing performance.\u201d The Museum\u2019s website gives a description in English with photographs of the town and the painting: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madonnadelparto.it\/la-madonna-del-parto-uk-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.madonnadelparto.it\/la-madonna-del-parto-uk-2\/<\/a> .<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Piero della Francesca (about 1415 \u2013 1492) produced a number of significant paintings on the life of Jesus.
