The Diplomacy Cable<\/strong><\/p>\n

With the invention of the telegraph cables in the 19th<\/sup> century, international consulates and embassies began sending shorter encrypted telegrams, using Morse Code. While the messages are now sent electronically, the moniker \u201ccable\u201d stuck and the term is still in use today for shorter, encrypted diplomatic messages. <\/em><\/p>\n

The largest Egyptian international organ trafficking ring has been busted according to Cairo-Egyptian authorities. Asharq al-Awsat<\/a> reports that the network had exploited patients enduring difficult economic conditions.<\/p>\n

China\u2019s Warning to Trump <\/strong><\/p>\n

China\u2019s Foreign Ministry has made it clear that Taiwan remains a core interest to Beijing, in reaction to President-elect Donald Trump\u2019s acceptance of a phone call from Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen. Trump has expressed that the US does not have to continue its long-held policy for recognizing Taiwan as part of \u2018one China\u2019 reports Yahoo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Brexit: Reaching a Deal in Time <\/strong><\/p>\n

European Union\u2019s Chief Negotiator Michel Barnier said that time is running short for proposed negotiations. According to BBC<\/a>, the UK will need to reach a deal by October 2018. Mr. Barnier says that there will only be 18 months to negotiate.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s Sea Wall Plan Withdrawn <\/strong><\/p>\n

Application for the coastal protection works near Trump International Golf Links and Hotel in Doonberg, County Clare has been withdrawn. RTE<\/a> reports that the hotel proposed building a 2.8km sea wall to protect the golf resort. The Clare County Council confirmed that the revised plans do not include the previously proposed wall.<\/p>\n

1 in 4 Children Live in Conflict or Disaster Zones <\/strong><\/p>\n

Thursday, the United Nations Children\u2019s Fund said that more than a half-billion children live in countries affected by conflicts or other disasters. Many of these children live \u201cwithout access to medical care, quality education, proper nutrition and protection,\u201d reports NYT<\/a>.<\/p>\n
