Cathedral of St. John the Divine

To celebrate the holidays Early Music New York presents stirring 18th-century New England shape-note anthems and hymns. These will be heartily sung by the EMNY men’s vocal ensemble. The concert will also feature English country dance tunes played by a lively band of fiddle, flute, guitar and bass. Hear and see this special holiday repertoire performed for voices and instruments in the intimate and ambient St. James Chapel nestled within the world’s largest Gothic cathedral!

The bus will leave campus at noon, returning to campus at about 5pm.

Featuring music from Colonial America as it does, this concert may be of particular interest to students of the Early Modern World; first priority will be given to HONS2103 students. If you are an HONS2103 student, be on the lookout for the sign up sheet in class. Other Honors Program students and alumni who are interested in attending should contact Maisie to see about the possibility of going along on this trip.
