Focused on educating leaders in the field of higher education, the ELMP and HEGSA suggest thinking about the multiple ways in which students can start preparing themselves now for a fruitful career.<\/p>\n

  1. Find a Mentor<\/b> willing to give you time and beneficial advice for your future and focus you on your career development.<\/li>\n
  2. Stay Organized<\/b> with calendars, folders, and deadlines. Staying on top of your time and materials is key to personal and organizational success.<\/li>\n
  3. Complete an Internship<\/b> to gain more experience in a sector of higher education that you are interested in pursuing later in your career.<\/li>\n
  4. Network<\/b> with your classmates, colleagues, professors, and university staff. Networks are essential for establishing your career, collaborations, and future growth.<\/li>\n
  5. Join a Professional Organization<\/b> to gain experience, exposure, access to higher education news, conferences, professional development, policy making, and advocacy.<\/li>\n
  6. Attend a Conference<\/b> to focus on the improvement of your professional network and experience.<\/li>\n
