We are pleased to share the latest report on test-optional policies from ETS featuring the work of SHU graduates, Dr. Christina Marie Pellegrino and Dr. Li Kang, Test-Optional Policies: Impacts to Date and Recommendations for Equity in Admissions (Gooch et al., 2024). We also include a short note from Dr. Pellegrino whose work was featured.
Hello HEGSA,
I hope you are having a delightful semester. It is an honor to share space with you in this community!
As we know, the higher education field is replete with fascinating topics to research. The test-optional policy movement piqued my interest, and the decision to research this area was fully supported by my advisor, Dr. Chen. I began investigating policy adoption trends, and shortly after, my dissertation topic was developed. However, the development and progression of my work was not done in isolation. I was blessed to have faculty who paved the way with infallible perspicacity, understanding, and patience. They were kind and keen from start to finish. I hope you, too, find support amongst your mentors and advisors.
Wishing you a splendid year ahead and an exciting academic journey.
Best,
Christina Marie Pellegrino, PhD
