Dr. Santiago Castiello, along with Dr. Katie Koo, Associate Professor at the University of Georgia, and Shima Talebi, Ed.S., a doctoral student in Higher Education at Seton Hall University, co-facilitated a workshop at the New Jersey Higher Education Mental Health Summit on January 9, 2024, at Stevens Institute of Technology.
The workshop, titled “From Surviving to Thriving: Mental Health and Well-being for International Students in the United States,” explored the unique mental health challenges faced by international students.
The session highlighted the importance of culturally sensitive practices and fostering supportive environments to help international students thrive rather than merely survive.
Attending the New Jersey Higher Education Mental Health Summit in Hoboken, NJ, was an enriching experience. It provided an excellent opportunity to connect with professionals, exchange knowledge, and learn from others dedicated to improving mental health support in higher education.
