In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, join us for a watch party of the award-winning Mexican documentary ‘El Sembrador’ (The Sower) (1h 26m). From IMDB, “This is the story of a teacher who has been a father to the children of the community and that has made the school a second home for all of them.”
It will be held on October 9 at 6 p.m., Chancellor’s Suite (University Center, first floor)
Please register for the event.
Following the screening, Dr. Santiago Castiello will deliver a commentary and facilitate a discussion on culturally responsive pedagogies and their implications for equity and inclusion in education. We will also discuss how filmmaking can be used to tell stories that resonate on both a personal and cultural level.
It is a free event, open to anyone within or outside SHU, and food will be provided! It is child/family friendly!
