Samarth Parikh

Weekend Representative

Hi Everyone! My name is Samarth Parikh and I live in Monroe Township, New Jersey. I am currently a rising 3L Weekend student at the Seton Hall Law School (SHLS). I am a pharmacist (PharmD) by training, and I work for Johnson & Johnson (J&J) as an Associate Director within medical safety. In my role as a healthcare professional at J&J, I am responsible for monitoring the post-marketing safety profile of our marketed products and to ensure that our products continue to remain safe for our patients. Additionally, I most recently completed Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and in my current role as a medical safety professional, I truly enjoy the intersection of health, business, and law.

As a Weekend Representative, my goal is to bring more inclusivity and visibility to the Health Law Forum among non-traditional weekends students such as myself. I also hope to bring more visibility about the non-traditional roles for lawyers such as an in-house counsel leveraging my pharmaceutical experiences. Outside of work and school, I like to spend time with outdoor activities such as hiking and also love to travel internationally.

Michelle Garcia

HLO Student Coordinator

My name is Michelle García and I am currently a 3L. I am from Flushing, Queens and am a proud daughter of immigrants.

I graduated from Cornell University in 2017 with a B.A. in History and double minors in Latino/a Studies and Global Health. After graduation, I worked for about four years as a jail liaison for a public defense office in New York City. In this capacity, I ensured that our incarcerated clients received medical attention and were released from jail on time. I also interviewed clients at Rikers Island in both English and Spanish. While I do not want to pursue public defense as a career, it was an incredibly rewarding experience and taught me a great deal about the lack of medical attention inside prisons and jails.

My past work and undergraduate experience led me to discover more about Health Law and all the possibilities that fall under that umbrella. I am not entirely sure what specific area of law I would like to pursue, but I am interested in the intersection between health law, data privacy, and compliance. In the future, I would like to pursue these interests in both a firm and in-house environment.

Outside of HLF, I am a Legal Education Opportunity (LEO) Fellow and a general body member of the Latin American Law Students Association (LALSA). I also love to Latin dance and hope to find some time to devote to my hobbies too!

We'd love to hear from you
