Coding… is time consuming

I created the HTML page below using coding and it was no easy task – this I will probably be staying away from!

Most advocates speak of the long term benefits of coding but neglect to tell you the amount of time it requires to learn it – most coding classes in school serve merely as a foundation to coding.

In this Berkeley bootcamp website they provide you with 5 advantages of coding.

Teaching a child to code can have adverse reactions such as eye problems and migraines. Long exposure to screen is detrimental to all.

There are online classes that can help you learn how to teach coding, but it requires time – most are very expensive beyond the basics.

I vaguely remember taking a class in high school about coding – it clearly did not have much of an impact on me as I did not retain anything I learned from it. I am much more of an outdoor person so sitting in front of a computer for too long is not fun for me. I am a huge believer we need to enjoy what we do for work!

  1. Hey Jeison, I agree that coding is very time-consuming especially if you’re still figuring out how it works. I like that you brought up the negative effects that coding may have on kids. Repeated long exposures to a screen can definitely cause vision problems. It is also true that schools usually offer entry-level courses that cover only the basics, and the basics can only get you so far.

  2. Hi Jeison, I found your perspective very interesting. I focused more in younger children in my post, but I do agree that to can be very time consuming. Similar to you, I did not feel like coding was for me and do not remember much about it now. Great post!
