Experience working on health issues such as childhood immunization or infectious diseases, or knowledge of China\u2019s international health and development policies, are considered a plus. At the outset, the Associate\u2019s work will center on the intersections between Chinese institutions and global health policy, with a particular focus on childhood immunization. This includes interacting with public organizations and private companies in China working on new technologies for health. Some specific deliverables the Associate will work on might include landscape analyses of key stakeholders in China, preparing briefing documents for in-person stakeholder meetings, and other events in which GHS is a partner. As GHS builds its capacity in China, the associate will also be responsible for helping to coordinate and implement other advocacy and communications projects as needed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advocacy:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>GHS works with clients to secure financial and political support by leveraging its existing and new relationships with governments, policymakers, foundations, multilaterals, and NGOs to help its clients expand their global support base, build internal and external capacity, and identify and maximize new relationships and opportunities for GHS\u2019s clients. In support of these efforts, the Associate is responsible for researching global health policies and funding opportunities, using strategic thinking to develop agendas and presentations for advocacy events (lunches, dinners etc.), managing logistics of advocacy and stakeholder events, and drafting proposals and documents to support these efforts. The Associate is also responsible for drafting research and policy analyses, reports and PowerPoint presentations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other responsibilities for the Associate will include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Researches health policies, key players and global health funding opportunities within China<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Supports the development of memos and reports on China\u2019s engagement in global health and possible opportunities to build new partnerships<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Supports a team of senior staff in China and New York on GHS client deliverables<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Supports outreach to Chinese stakeholders, including influential individuals across the government, academic, civil society and media landscapes<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Develops agendas, presentations and materials for stakeholder meetings or other events<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Manages the logistics of events and staff trips<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Assists in drafting a wide range of communications and advocacy materials including press releases, FAQs, talking points, key messages, strategy memos and presentations<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Contributes to the development of social media materials to support policy and advocacy efforts<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Provides administrative support to GHS\u2019 China team, including coordinating calls and various logistics among GHS offices<\/p>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>GHS is seeking a self-starter capable of quickly getting up to speed on GHS\u2019s work and rapidly assuming increasing levels of responsibility. A passion for understanding global public health issues and trends is essential for this position. The individual must be well-organized and detail-oriented, capable of independently producing accurate documents quickly when required, and comfortable in a fast-paced international environment. Individuals with previous media relations experience will be prioritized.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In addition, the individual should possess the following traits:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 B.A. in international relations, public policy, public health or public administration<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 1-2 years of related work experience<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin) and English<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Strong writing and editing skills<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Knowledge of, or demonstrated interest in global health<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Strong research skills<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Project management experience<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Experience working in cross-cultural settings<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Strong attention to detail<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Strong initiative, and ability to work proactively with minimal supervision<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Availability to work nights and weekends when necessary<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Willingness to travel within China, and internationally<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Proficiency using Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and social media platforms such as Weibo and Kaixin; Photoshop or other image processing software is a plus<\/p>\n<p><strong>Additional Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Knowledge of global health and\/or the Chinese vaccine and pharmaceutical industry<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Experience in working with international NGOs or other civic society organizations.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 M.A. in related field<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please send all applications to jobschina (at)\u00a0globalhealthstrategies.com .
