Projects eligible for funding include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Exhibitions<\/li>\n<li>Interpretations of historic places or events<\/li>\n<li>Book\/film discussion programs, living history presentations or other programs at public locations<\/li>\n<li>Interpretative websites<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Planning grants<\/em> support the early stages of a project&#8217;s development, including: consultation with scholars, refinement of themes, preliminary design and audience evaluation. Awards typically range from $40,000 to $75,000 and don&#8217;t reach the higher end of the scale unless they are exceptionally ambitious, complex and have the capability to reach extremely wide audiences.<em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Implementation grants <\/em>are designed to support final scholarly research and the design, development, production and installation of a\u00a0 project for presentation to the public. These awards typically do not exceed\u00a0 $400,000, though projects that have special significance and reach a wide audience can receive up to $1,000,000.<\/p>\n<p>January 9, 2013 is the deadline for both grants.
