The EXTREEMS-QED program seeks to enhance the ability of the next generation of mathematics and statistics students to confront new challenges in computational and data-enabled science and engineering (CDS&E). Projects must improve the CDS&E ability of most, if not all math and statistics majors (or minors) at the home university and the strongest proposals will transform departmental and institutional culture.

Proposals must include plans to: 1) develop undergraduate research and hands-on activities, 2) improve education and training for math and statistics majors and minors and 3) support faculty outreach/development activities or workshops. Focus does not have to be equal across all areas.

Projects can be 2-3 years or 5 years, with specific award amounts dependent on the availability of funds. The deadline is January 31, 2013. For more information, see the link below:
