Professor Haney was an incredible artist and visionary. His artwork is complex and geometric yet encapsulating and surreal. To create the image for the virtual exhibition, I specifically studied pieces from his\u00a0<\/span>Series 3 Collection<\/span><\/em>, which depicted various winged animals. The artwork that caught my attention the most was <\/span>“Alpine Parrot Sanctuary.”\u00a0<\/span><\/em>Professor Haney illustrated parrots from the inside of the sanctuary, with the spirals representing the fence around the exterior. I will never forget the day I brought my “Turtles”<\/em> to Professor Haney for my Drawing as Design class. He looked at my drawing and then at me and offered to oversee an Independent Study. That was the turning point\u2014the pride he displayed pushed me to pursue visual storytelling. I wouldn’t be where I am today without all he taught me. My short time with Prof. Haney was a shaping moment in my college career. I had just changed my major and wasn\u2019t sure if I made the right choice or if I was talented enough to be successful as a designer. Professor Haney helped me to grow my confidence making me sure that I made the right choice and that I have the talent to go very far in my career. This piece is his favorite from the classes I had with him.<\/p>\n

Professor Haney’s passion for art encouraged me to improve my drawing skills. He was hands-on and enthusiastic. But, most importantly, Professor Haney was helpful to all of his students. He was truly a great educator.<\/p>\n

I was first introduced to Professor Haney during my sophomore year in Digital Painting and Drawing as Design classes. He was so encouraging from the very start, recognizing my talents and teaching me how to enhance them. Professor Haney was always excited to teach and entered the room leading with his smile. As a member of the Seton Hall Softball team, I nominated Professor Haney as Softball’s Professor of the Year in 2015. Together with two other art students, we honored him at a home game against Hofstra University, where he watched all 14 innings, cheering the entire game. Professor Haney was not only an extremely talented artist but an amazing and supportive teacher that I had the pleasure to know!<\/p>\n
