We developed a culturally responsive shared book reading intervention for South Asian parents whose preschool-aged children have late language emergence — the South Asian shared Reading Intervention (SARI) protocol. Rather than follow the traditional dialogic reading sequence, we taught parents the PRE sequence: prompt, repeat, expand. We also modified the prompts from CROWD to the more parent-friendly and culturally relevant acronym: DAAL. Please feel free to print these and use with your children or share with clients!
