April 16, 9:30am – 10:30am
Moderated by: Nicholas H. Snow, Founding Endowed Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry
Panelists: Senior Faculty and Deans from across the university
Who should attend: Tenured and senior faculty considering their next steps
A distinguished panel of senior faculty and administrators will provide tips and tricks to help tenured faculty navigate the next steps. We will offer key points of advice for tenured faculty seeking promotion and for senior faculty looking to make a difference. We will provide a high-level view of the reasons for promotion and structure of the rank and tenure process. We will discuss key points that make for both strong and weak cases for promotion and the role of the faculty evaluation process. We will discuss how senior colleagues can make a difference whether seeking promotion or not. Each panelist will provide several of their own key pieces of advice for prospective applicants. The format will be very informal with ample time for questions and discussion.
