Join us for a reading of Ruth Zamoyta’s play, “The Widow,”
a timely drama about aging and friendship. The reading will be followed by a discussion with the playwright, actors, and director.
“The Widow”: Cece, a childless widow, finds memories and words slipping away, one by one. Her caring but misguided friend Lois convinces her to find a husband while she still has looks and wits. When Cece’s lovers turn out to be vile and abusive, she uses her chemistry skills to dispatch of them, one by one. Inspired by the true story of serial-killer Isao Kakehi (the “Black Widow” of Japan), THE WIDOW explores a tender friendship between two senior women and their desperate attempts to avoid aging alone.
