She WILL – Seton Hall Elevating Women in Learning and Leadership

It is well-recognized that women face unique challenges as they advance in academia. Academic mentoring programs typically focus on the technical aspects of the profession and often do not consider the psycho-social dimensions of an academic career. For this reason, women often seek other women for informal mentoring and support. Seton Hall Elevating Women in Learning and Leadership (She WILL) is a mentoring program and faculty learning community for faculty who identify as female (although people of all gender identities are welcome to join) to learn and share how we navigate academia. Through an inclusive and safe space, the programming aims to enhance leadership skills in women faculty. We will use a mutual mentoring model where participants are active leaders in the program.

The immediate and long-term objectives of this program are increased job satisfaction, faculty retention, and advancement of female faculty in leadership roles. This program is sponsored by the SHU Center for Faculty Development. Meetings will occur monthly beginning in early February (4-5 times) for 75 minutes per meeting.

Further details, including topics, meeting modality, etc. will be based on participants’ needs and interests. Space is limited.
