Julius Solinus\u2019 <em>Polyhistor:<\/em> <em>Treasury of memorabilia from all over the world<\/em>.<br \/>\nThis edition (shown below) was published in Basel, Switzerland in 1538.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/archives\/files\/2014\/10\/book_forblog.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-766 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/archives\/files\/2014\/10\/book_forblog-300x237.jpg\" alt=\"Front cover and fore edge  of C. Topics covered include the geography of the ancient world and a chronology of ancient Rome.<\/p>\n<p>A number of newer maps are credited to Sebastian Munster (1489-1552). Shown below is a map of Asia, while obviously lacking in details (including Japan) the map does contain a small portion of North American visible in the upper right, labeled \u2018terra incognita.\u2019 This has been called one of the earliest maps to feature the west coast of North America.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/archives\/files\/2014\/10\/map_edit.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-767 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/archives\/files\/2014\/10\/map_edit-300x208.jpg\" alt=\"Fold-out map from C.
