Bill Graham, Owner of Graham Corporate Communications, Speaks to Leadership Students

People say you never get a second chance to make a first impression. While that may hold true for the entire business community, it is perhaps most relevant to aspiring young professionals looking for new careers. As students or recent graduates, this process can be especially difficult without extensive credentials or experience, so it is up to you to sell yourself and your ideas. To successfully land a job or lead a team, this self-marketing must go beyond strong knowledge and great skills. No matter how good you are, it is absolutely essential to be well liked – only then will people actually listen to and remember your words. Most people would say that this ‘likeability’ is an intangible asset that cannot be taught, cannot be explained, and cannot be refined; Bill Graham, however, sets out to disprove these assumptions. As a motivational trainer and esteemed member of the Seton Hall Faculty, Mr. Graham spoke with the Leadership Development Honors Program on February 27th about how to use your outward appearance and personal storytelling to make a first impression that will last. -Deidre Kane, Leadership Development Class of 2014
