Annual Freshman Gala
By: Sophia Joseph, Leadership Class of 2016
The Leadership Development Honors Program’s Class of 2016 hosted this year’s Freshman Gala. The theme was a winter masquerade. Every guest received a mask and were able to take pictures at a photo booth! During the evening, the freshman got up and did a flash mob! It was a great success. One of our own freshman was the DJ for the evening and everyone was dancing and having a great time. Towards the end of the evening, we had a raffle with prizes including a $50 gift card from above, $25 gift card to Stony’s, $25 gift card to Dunkin Donuts, Dinner for 2 at Bunny’s, a David Wright autographed baseball, and a Mariano Rivera autographed picture. Our class decided that we wanted to raise money for a good cause, so we asked the guests to bring money and buy raffle tickets. The money was going towards our Leadership Event – PirateThon. PirateThon is an 18-hour dance marathon raising money for The Valerie Fund, which helps children with cancer and blood disorders. At the end of the gala, the freshman thanked Mike by explaining some of the qualities we love about him and presented him with a picture frame. I believe everyone had a wonderful time!
