Three Minute Leadership: The Tipping Points of a Leader’s Greatness
To: The Great Leaders Who Have a Passion for Continuous Learning
“The tipping point is that magic moment,” writes Malcolm Gladwell, “when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire.” Gladwell’s tipping point has broader implications in the lives of great leaders – those magical moments when their perceptions of life, experiences, business or themselves suddenly evolve or dramatically burst into something greater and more important and value-added. It is the journey of continuous professional and personal learning, growth and change and a moment comes when a corner is turned.
Dan Rockwell in his recent blog post, Leadership Tipping Points, suggests five tips for finding personal tipping points:
- Change the people you listen to.
- Adopt new language when you talk to yourself.
- Think of the potential of your current team from a different perspective.
- Add new people to the team.
- Try something new. Go to new places. Nothing changes until you do something different.
Gladwell writes also: “Look at the world around you. It may seem like an immovable, implacable place. It is not, With the slightest push – in just the right place – it can be tipped.” Creating these magic moments is in the hands of great leaders – their choices for themselves and those whom they serve. Dare to fill your life with the precious moments. Push the limits in all that you do. Find the tipping point … and then gently push … and change the world.
Have a beautiful day and a magnificent week!!!
