Sophia Joseph’s Women in the Making Interview

Leadership Sophomore Sophia Joseph was interviewed on January 8th, 2014 for the Women in the Making radio program on WBAI Pacifica Radio 99.5 FM. WBAI is a progressive and independent radio station that specializes in news and the arts.

Sophia spoke of how important family is in her life, diversity in the workplace, and becoming a woman leader. She gave insight on what it is like to be viewed as a woman and Indian in a professional environment. To follow up, she gave ideas on how to eliminate diversity in the workplace and in the world. Sophia stressed the role of mentors in a person’s life and suggested that women should reach out to each other more often. Her mother played a large role in her upbringing by teaching her to be an independent woman, and she hopes to help instill these values in her younger brother.
