Three Minute Leadership: Each Morning’s Moment of Infinite Promise
To: The Great Leaders Who Have a Passion for Continuous Learning
Ralph Waldo Emerson, 18th century American essayist and poet, wrote: “I had an almost intolerable awareness that every morning began with infinite promise. Any book may be read, any idea thought, any action taken. Anything that has ever been possible to most of us every time the clock say six in the morning. On a day not different from the one now breaking, Shakespeare sat down to begin Hamlet.”
Each morning we awake to the magnificent opportunity to create our own masterpiece. We get to explore, stretch, challenge, dream… to go beyond who we were and what we did yesterday… to take another step further in realizing our extraordinary potential. Robert Smithson, American artist, observed: “Objects in a park suggest static repose rather than any ongoing dialectic. Parks are finished landscapes for finished art.” What we created and finished yesterday was yesterday’s work of art. Today’s gift and promise for us is to go beyond – be and do something more – seeing through new eyes possibilities we didn’t see before. Let Robert Louis Stevenson’s, author, words give us focus with each morning’s dawn: “To be what we are and to become what we are capable of becoming, is the only end of life.” Life is so very beautiful.
Have a beautiful day and create magnificent mornings of promise throughout your week!!!
