Three Minute Leadership- How Do You Measure, Measure a Year?

To: The Great Leaders Who Have a Passion for Continuous Learning.

From the Broadway play, Rent, comes a wonderful song, Seasons of Love. It is a gentle reminder for great leaders to reflect on how they are choosing to live their life… how they are choosing to fill their days.

Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes

Five hundred twenty-five thousand moments so dear

Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes

How do you measure, measure a year?

In daylights, in sunsets

In midnights, in cups of coffee

In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife

In five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes

How do you measure, a year in the life?

The words “five hundred twenty-five thousand moments so dear” give poignancy to the measured count of our days. The question: How do you measure, measure a year?” provides a moment for quiet reflection on how we are choosing to spend each of these precious moments. Yes, the measure may be partly in the magnificent sunrises and sunsets, the simple joys of a cup of coffee or the joyful moments of hearty, belly-laugh. We need them all. Yet, there is so much more as we continuously stretch and challenge ourselves and others to find their full richness. In choosing your answer to the question, remember the often quoted advice: “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” Live life with excitement, passion and love! Life is so very beautiful.

Have a beautiful day and a magnificent week!!!
