Topic: First impressions and interviews
First Impressions –
- Be confident (most important)
- Not cocky/arrogant
- Be concise
- Clear of thought
- Be personable, natural
Interviews –
- Be prepared
- Have stories ready
- Bring it back to relevant skills
- Research the company
- Know what goes on
- Read filings/financials
- Ask questions about the company
- Shows confidence, lets them know you are interested
- Don’t ask questions you can find answers to by doing research
- Question things like the work environment
- Be honest
- Admit flaws but mention that you are working on it, improving
- Get the person to understand who you are
- Talk about interests
- Strongest points
- Topics you know well
Other Things Mentioned –
- Build a good network
- Stay in contact
- Build throughout career, not just when you need it
- Better to be promoted than ask for a promotion
- Build relationships with your superiors in a work environment
- These mentors can pull you along
- Remembers your effort
