Three Minute Leadership: “If Only I Had That Kind of Talent”… You Do

To: The Great Leaders Who Have a Passion for Continuous Learning

Earl Nightingale, motivational speaker and author, wrote: “Most of the things worth doing in the world have been declared impossible before they were attempted.” In a recent article, Lessons from the Olympics, Philip Humbert, leadership author and coach, is saddened by comments he was hearing from people bemoaning their inabilities as they observed the accomplishments of the athletes at this year’s Olympics. The consistent themes of the comments were: “if only I had that kind of talent” and “I never had the chance.” Of their laments Humbert says: “What amazes me are the people who have done extraordinary things, once they decided they really wanted to.” Achieving greatness, however we define it in our life, is about a passionate, enthusiastic and joyful commitment to find the gifts we have and to use them, never lamenting that we “never had a chance.” It is always our decision to make that chance.

Jean De La Fontaine, French poet, wrote: “Man is so made that when anything fires his soul, impossibilities vanish.” What excitement these words hold. Not a timorous voice crying: “I will try” or “I hope to,” but a voice charged with eager determination saying: “I will do that!” Psychologist Joyce Brothers said: “In each of us are places where we have never gone. Only by pressing the limits do you ever find them.” For great leaders it is their purpose and will to find and explore these hidden places, and to find in them magnificent possibilities for growth and change in their lives. Each day push to discover these magnificent places. Remind yourself that nothing is impossible.. because I’mpossible. And have fun doing it!

Have a beautiful day and a fantastic week‼!
